Help feed families in our community
What’s your New Year’s resolution? For many people it’s to cut back on junk food or to eat more vegetables. We’re fortunate to be able to make these kinds of resolutions. There are many families who can’t make changes to their diet, simply because they don’t have enough. Hunger is a big issue – even in our own community.
This year, we encourage you to make a different kind of resolution. One that impacts the life of another, in addition to your own. One that will be joining forces with us to make a bigger impact. One that will pay dividends beyond providing a meal to someone in need, by improving a child’s academic achievement as well as emotional and physical development.
This year, resolve to make a difference in your local community. It’s as simple as donating canned goods and non-perishable food items to FOOD For Lane County or Marion-Polk County Food Share. To make donating simple, we’ve put collection bins inside all of our branches and corporate offices between January 11th and January 25th.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Canned soup and stew
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned tuna or other meat
- Canned beans
- Low sugar cereal
- Peanut butter
- Applesauce
- Fruit snacks
- Dried fruit
- Raisins
- Rice
- Pasta
- Oatmeal
- Crackers
- Pretzels
- Granola bars
- Nuts
- Fruit juices
- Dry or evaporated milk
- Boxed, shelf-stable milk
Not going to be by a branch anytime soon? You can donate online to FOOD For Lane County and Marion-Polk Food Share. Monetary donations stretch even further, as just one dollar can provide up to five pounds of food or 3 meals. Join us in raising resources to feed families in our communities. A small donation will have a big impact.
