Three must-visit Oregon summer destinations
Looking for an adventure close to home this summer? Whether you’re interested in setting up camp at an RV park or hitting the open road for a journey, now is the perfect time to get away and unwind. Check out a few of our favorite off the beat and path places in Oregon.
If you’ve been searching for a peaceful park with jaw-dropping oceanic views to call home for a few days (or weeks) this summer, then Winchester Bay RV Resort might be your holy grail. Located at 120 Marina Way in Winchester Bay, the site highlights a gorgeous view of the Bay and the Umpqua River, which joins the Pacific Ocean.
The park is has both tent and RV spaces available and provides full hook-ups, including water, electricity, free Wi-Fi, picnic tables, a playground, and even a putting green. And when hunger strikes, you can go crabbing straight from the nearby docks!
Are you in need of a new fishing spot to drop anchor? Then Crescent Lake Oregon is the place. Located off Highway 58 (Willamette Highway), with an amazing Cascade Mountain backdrop, Crescent Lake spans over seven miles and is home to some of the best fishing in Oregon.
You’ll find Rainbow trout, Mountain white fish, and Kokanee salmon, who bite hard during the summer months. The lake is open year round and offers plenty of camping grounds along its shoreline, so you can rest from reeling in all those sockeye trout.
Sometimes you need a break from the same weekend motorcycle route. Try your two wheels on Oregon Route 218. Running between the small towns of Shaniko and Fossil, and stretching over 40 miles, this exciting route cuts through desert canyons and mountainous terrain with snaky turns and almost no traffic – just watch out for antelope and deer!
You’ll also want to keep an eye open for ghost towns and other deserted areas. This scenic route has everything in the making of an unforgettable ride, as long as you plan for fuel ahead of time.
Here is to an epic summer of camping, boating and exploring this great state we call home.
